DrumMate

DrumMate is a live generative band for electronic drummers.

Connect an e-drum kit to an Android phone or tablet over USB MIDI, play, and DrumMate generates a four-part band in real time: bass, keys, lead and pads. The generated parts follow your tempo, dynamics, groove, fills, stops and feel.

It is not a backing track player. There is no fixed timeline. The drummer acts as the clock and feel source, while DrumMate creates the arrangement around the performance.

Play faster and the band follows. Play quieter and the arrangement thins out. Fill into a crash and the band can answer with a lick. Push into a solo and the arrangement makes space. Stop on a fill and the band lands the ending with you.

Following, not playback.

Real-time tempo tracking follows the drummer's groove within a couple of bars.

Dynamics tracking changes the band's brightness, density and arrangement based on how hard you play.

Micro-timing and swing tracking let styles follow the player's feel, not just a rigid grid.

DrumMate can generate turnaround fills, call-and-response phrases, solo-aware accompaniment and endings.

Sound engine.

DrumMate includes a built-in synth engine with physically modeled tine electric piano, virtual analog bass and lead sounds, acid-style 303 sequences with tempo-synced delay, FM voices, pads and supporting textures.

The mix engine includes kick-triggered sidechain pump, program-dependent glue compression, subtle analog drift and low-latency audio through Oboe, with per-setup latency calibration.

Workflow.

DrumMate includes one-tap band presets, custom ensemble saving, on-screen pads for trying the app without a kit, and jam recording.

Recorded jams can be exported as MIDI files containing drums and generated band parts, or as WAV files containing the full mix.

DrumMate also supports MIDI output to external synthesizers, modules or DAW instruments, alongside its internal sound engine.

A paired browser at drum.drummate.app can mirror the app's band and mix in real time.

Requirements.

Android phone or tablet.

Optional: any e-drum module with USB MIDI, such as Roland, Yamaha, Alesis and others, connected over USB OTG.

Wired audio output is strongly recommended, as Bluetooth latency is not suitable for live playing.

DrumMate is currently in free closed beta on Google Play. There are no ads, no accounts, and no user data leaves the device.
