Evolution Classic Rick Bass

Evolution Classic Rick captures the distinctive raspy, sizzling bass tone that was the cornerstone of progressive rock during the '70s and '80s.

Sampled using a vintage mid '70s model, Evolution Classic Rick Bass gives you the authentic sound with all the attention to detail and realism you've come to expect from our Evolution series. The virtual instrument includes an abundance of articulations, all accessible through the custom mapping system: fingerstyle and picked articulations with open and palm muted combinations of both, plus bonus articulations like slapping and popping. The pickups were recorded as separate signals, allowing you to blend between the bridge pickup's crisp, biting attack, and the deep, organic sustain of the neck pickup.

We developed the library in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah's most venerable recording studios. Guy Randle, the owner and recording engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, incorporated analog audio equipment to skillfully sculpt and emphasize the rich tonal qualities of the bass. Evolution Classic Rick Bass includes both the as-recorded signal as well as an enhanced signal that can be blended to your taste.

Evolution Classic Rick Bass is based on our Evolution engine, which provides you with a wealth of appointments: a flexible mapping system, a comprehensive collection of built-in effects, and a generous amount of settings to tailor the instrument to your performance needs.

- Powerful mapping system that lets you set how you want to trigger articulations, assigning them to velocity ranges, MIDI CCs, and keyswitches.

Sampling specifications:

- 17.3 GB (compressed to 7.48 GB using the lossless NCW audio format) of 24-bit samples.

- Articulations such as fingerstyle and picked sustains, palm mutes, mutes, natural harmonics, slapping and popping, plus special effects like string slaps, divebombs, and more.

- Legato samples for slides, hammer-ons, and pull-offs.

- The articulations have 3 dynamics and 4x round-robin.

Evolution Classic Rick Bass licenses Native Instruments' Kontakt Player sampler software. Consequently, owning the full version of Kontakt is not necessary, and Evolution Classic Rick Bass operates without limitations within the free Kontakt Player application/plugin. This also allows the sample library to be listed in the libraries tab in Kontakt for convenient access.

Evolution Classic Rick Bass is NKS-ready. The integration with the Native Kontrol Standard presents many benefits, both when using the library in the Komplete Kontrol software as well as in conjunction with Komplete Kontrol hardware, such as the Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboards and Maschine.

We recommend using Evolution Classic Rick Bass with a Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboard for the full experience. While not a requirement, you will be able to take advantage of the Native Kontrol Standard for an intuitive connection between software instruments and hardware.
