EVOX is an Experimental Soundscape Synthesizer (standalone tool application for Windows) that employs two separate and programmable layers each with extensive FX and Modulation Matrix modules which provide the user with maximum control over unique sound creation. With the built-in 16 track Crossfade Pattern Sequencer, long evolving ambient/drone sounds can be created and cross-faded with other sounds to create dense tapestries of sound. As an experimental synthesizer it radically departs from standard instruments and is meant to be used as a laboratory for the exploration of new sonic and timbral creations that would be difficult to achieve any other way. It is ideal for ambient soundscapes or virtually any type of experimental genres.

It is free/donation, requires no registration, requires no installation. Works without problems in operating systems Windows XP / 7 / 8 / 10 (32 or 64-bit) although this tool is 32-bit.

The following examples demonstrate some of the patches that are provided with EVOX without any additional effects added or any other instruments employed. The tracks demonstrate the range of possibilities from abstract ambient sound scapes, otherworldly FX, and more traditional synth sounds.

This is a wonderfully cool little tool to generate soundscapes in either a random way, or in a more controlled way. The new version adds a lot more functionality than the previous version, including sequencing of seeds and a really good list of effects. You get extra functionality with the paid version, like being able to store patches, but the free version will definitely get you started. And if this version is too complicated for your taste, you can still download the first rev, which is labelled V1.2 on the website, which is purely random, and you can just let that thing run forever, listening to the result.

Full disclosure: I beta tested this version for 2MGT/Metamusic, so I've been working with it longer than it's officially been out. But I have not been paid or in any way compensated for this rating. I wasn't even asked to rate it. And I would give the exact same rating even if I had not been a part of the beta.

Not downloading on Chrome.

Really cool! Two downsides (note to dev):

1. Quite buggy, especially the GUI. On the other hand it's not the end of the world for this software: just quit and restart (as it's not a VSTi).

2. I'd love to see a step sequencer. Would make it massively more useful.

Must say this is a nice break from sitting in front of a DAW with a zillion of effects etc: make some sound, use the built-in recorder and just play around with it.

This IS NOT free!! Infact, when u try to hit the "So called" free download link, the website screen just blinks/ reloads to the same page, but no NO DOWNLOAD ACCESS!! THe dev is so stupid. While he has a decent amount of EYES, attention, & or interest in his plugin, he DEAD LOCKS the link so no one can access, or actually download the damn plugin smh. YET, it's listed hear, and on there site as (free) with the acception of the "Locked" features whichg require a PAID license. Now if i try to BUY the whole paid version i gaurantee you that the link will work with zero problems. But bkz (i'm assuming) many people actually DID try to download he got SCARED of something and has locked the DL portal. I've tried on my desk top, & tried on my laptop. It's a NO GO.Aka WASTE of time fellaz. Nothing but a DUDD hear unfortunately which is unfortunate bkz of all the free plugins i was reviewing/considering downloading the EVOX was the one that peeked my curriosity, and seemed to be a most interesting sonic tool/plugin at first clance smh. But if the dev says it's free, yet is NOT allowing access to the download for whatever reason then promoting it as free, trying to draw customer traffic for potential sales was just a DUMB move. Now he's pissed off the consumer base for being a LIAR, & not holding true to his word. He, his product will NEVER succeed, and make it to the "Big tyme" plugin players level bkz onething we producers/consumers hate is a BS artist who doesnt hold true to his words, promotions etc.

Congrats, BlackAngel43, these kind of comments make devellopers like the one making this app (I am a little envolved in betatesting and know a little about the circumstances under which these app has been develloped) having so much fun that they may come to the conclusion that there are better ways to spent their spare time instead of develloping apps like this for free or a little donation so that maybe the circumstances for develloping might improve a little.

Do you think the develloper is making money with this really ??????? Then I better dont comment on that.

Fact is, like lucknow13 said, there is a problem on chrome with the download (I just realized). You can even rant on me cause I have not tried (on the devellopment mashine I doubt that chrome would even run...).

On win 10 Firefox works, Edge works (tried just the moment). I dont know about Chrome but I am sure that the develloper will look into it. There is nothing hidden or other b....... you mentioned. Thanks again for your constructive comment......

Hi to all that have problems with downloading from Chrome or Edge.

Seems the problem is fixed now (at least for me, just tried, win 10). Would be nice if someone could try and confirm. If you have any problems please contact support on the develloper site before writing such comments as the one from BlackAngel43.

This is just one develloper with very small ressources and some guys trying to help as good as they could.
