Wrongtools introduces FNUGG – a scoring toolkit born at the intersection of granular synthesis, modular noise art, and the organic textures of the world outside.
Wrongtools unveils FNUGG, a Kontakt sample library that dissolves the boundaries between the natural and the synthetic. Blending synthesized field recordings, granular synthesis, and binaural lively wobbly samples.
At once raw, resonant, and real, FNUGG was shaped over a year in our Norwegian studio. We recorded insect sounds and sounds from the forest nearby, bowed, bent, resonated and collided all manner of objects—capturing sound at its most tactile. The results were then sculpted through custom modular chains, tape units, and esoteric analog gear. The outcome? A collection of modular rhythmic collages fused with river-like field recordings, breathing with the unpredictability of the natural world.
"From the subtle flapping of a butterfly's wings to the rumblings of an avalanche — from gelatinous, jelly-like shifts to thick, motor-oil drips — FNUGG responds and evolves with the slightest modwheel movement."
FNUGG's patches are self-destructive, designed to morph, adapt, and defy expectations. They invite you to compose not just with sound, but inside of it. This is music as erosion, as entropy, as emergence.
FNUGG weaves delicate threads between particle-based textures and contemporary composition. It explores how "unfamiliar familiarities" can create experiences that are both meditative and dissociative — reflecting the self-destructive tendencies of the human race while offering moments of strange, sonic peace.
