Four Play

The Behringer Four Play is an essential utility module for any Eurorack system, combining a quad voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) and a four-channel mixer into one space-saving unit. Often described as one of the most crucial building blocks in modular synthesis after an oscillator, the VCA is responsible for dynamically controlling the amplitude of audio and CV signals. This module, inspired by the popular Intellijel Quad VCA, provides four high-quality, low-noise VCAs, giving you extensive control over the dynamics and mixing of your patches.

Each of the four channels on the Four Play features a CV input with a dedicated attenuator, a manual level control, and a boost switch to add 6dB of gain for lower-level signals. A key feature is the continuously variable response curve control for each VCA, allowing you to seamlessly morph the response from linear (ideal for CV) to exponential (ideal for audio). The inputs and outputs are cascaded, meaning a single CV input can control all four VCAs, and the outputs can automatically sum together to function as a four-channel voltage-controlled mixer. This flexible architecture makes the Four Play an incredibly efficient and powerful tool for shaping your sounds.
