The Erica Synths Fusion Modulator is a complex and highly versatile all-analog modulation source for Eurorack modular systems. As part of Erica Synths' acclaimed Fusion series, this module leverages the unique sonic properties of vacuum tubes to create rich, organic, and often unpredictable modulation signals. The Fusion Modulator is more than just a simple LFO or envelope generator; it is a multi-faceted modulation hub that can serve as the creative core of a patch, inspiring new and unconventional sound design approaches. Its design is inspired by the iconic EMS Synthi, and it excels at creating evolving, chaotic, and beautifully complex modulation patterns.
The Fusion Modulator is comprised of several interconnected blocks. The main feature is its two looping envelope generators, which can be used to create a wide range of rhythmic and gestural modulation signals. These envelopes have simultaneous unipolar (0V to +10V) and bipolar (-5V to +5V) outputs, making them compatible with a wide variety of modules. The module also includes a VCA, which can be used to control the amplitude of the envelopes or other signals. A built-in noise generator provides a source of randomness for creating noisy textures or for use with the integrated sample & hold circuit. The sample & hold can be used to create classic random voltages or to sample and hold other modulation sources. A key element of the Fusion Modulator's character is its tube-based design, which adds a subtle warmth and saturation to the modulation signals. With its interconnected design and extensive patching possibilities, the Fusion Modulator is a deep and inspiring tool for any modular synthesist looking to explore the outer realms of modulation.
