GigaViolin fuses the realism of sampling with the power of convolution-based modeling to "redefine what is possible from a sample library".
GigaViolin takes advantage of the processing power offered by GigaStudio to create a realistic solo violin. The convolution-based body resonance technology takes a raw bowed string sample and uses GigaPulse technology to model a varied selection of rich, vintage violin bodies. The result is realism with notes that naturally decay, and expressive performance possibilities - including dynamic portamento & vibrato, and changing bowing articulations while performing. At any time, the performer can interchange violin bodies and microphone placements to find the one that best suits the music.
In addition to the realism offered by BRT (Body Resonance Technology), GigaViolin uses the latest advances in GigaStudio 3 for dynamic performance. The DEF (Dynamic Expression Filter) allows the performer to expressively control the bowing intensity and dynamics while playing. The PRF (Portamento Reshaping Filter) generates perfect legato and portamento lines without needing separate samples, with the ability to change the portamento time in the middle of a performance. The library offers a broad selection of articulations, including legato, staccato, spiccato, sforzando, tremolos, trills, pizzicato and many more - plus Divisi 4 ensemble samples.
All of these features are further bolstered by iMIDI rules that alternate bowing, randomize sample selection, automatically switch between mono and poly modes and much more. Tascam claim the end result is a breakthrough in sampling technology and the most realistic rendering of a violin ever achieved. GigaViolin is ideal for film scoring, composition, pop or any style that requires the emotive power of solo violin.
