Groove60 :Classic Drum Machine MIDI Timing Processor

GROOVE60 is a free MIDI timing processor designed to bring classic drum-machine and hardware-sequencer timing concepts into DAW playback.

It processes incoming MIDI in real time without rewriting or permanently modifying the original MIDI clips. Bypassing the plug-in immediately returns playback to the source timing.

GROOVE60 is built around a 96 PPQN timing grid and combines three timing processes:

• Timing Correct – aligns MIDI playback to a selectable musical grid.
• Swing – delays off-beat events to create straight, triplet-style, or more pronounced swung timing.
• FIFO Queue processing – introduces small, ordered timing offsets when multiple MIDI events occur at the same or nearly the same time.

The queue behaviour is intended to reproduce the subtle event-processing delay associated with classic MIDI hardware operating under load. Events retain their original order, while later events can sit slightly behind the first.

Timing Correct divisions

• Off.
• 1/8.
• 1/8 triplet.
• 1/16.
• 1/16 triplet.
• 1/32.
• 1/32 triplet.

Swing is available when Timing Correct is set to 1/8 or 1/16. A setting of 50% produces straight timing, while higher values create progressively stronger swing.

Q-SENS modes

Q-SENS controls how readily the FIFO Queue process reacts to stacked or closely spaced MIDI events:

• Classic – reacts primarily to tightly stacked events.
• Enhanced – makes the queue effect easier to hear.
• Hot – emphasises the effect for more obvious timing colour or testing.

The Queue indicator lights only when queue lag is actually generated.

GROOVE60 does not add random timing drift, velocity changes, jitter, or unpredictable note movement. It is not a conventional MIDI humanizer. Its timing changes are deterministic and are produced by the selected Timing Correct, Swing, and FIFO Queue settings.

It can be used with programmed drums, hi-hats, percussion, bass lines, and other MIDI parts where a less rigid playback feel is required. It is particularly suited to MIDI clip playback inside a DAW.
