Hexinverter Mutant Snare

The Erica Synths Hexinverter Mutant Snare is a deep and versatile analog snare drum module that represents a significant departure from the static sounds of the classic TR-808. This module is designed for sonic exploration, offering a huge palette of snare tones, from classic electro sounds to warped, alien, and futuristic percussion. Its flexible architecture and extensive CV control make it an incredibly expressive instrument for any Eurorack setup.

The Mutant Snare's sound is built upon two main elements: the "SHELL" and the "SNAPPY." The SHELL section uses analog bridged-T sine wave oscillators to create the organic, resonant body of the snare drum. A TONE control blends between two sine waves of different frequencies, and the SHELL PITCH allows you to tune one of the sine waves, giving you control over the fundamental pitch of the snare. The SNAPPY section adds the noise component of the snare sound. It features an analog white noise generator, but an external input also allows you to patch in any sound source you like to create the snappy part of the sound. The SNAPPY section also includes a voltage-controllable decay and a selectable high-pass or band-pass filter with voltage-controllable cutoff.

This Erica Synths re-issue of the Hexinverter classic features a high-quality build and bipolar attenuators on the CV inputs for precise modulation control. The ability to blend between the SHELL and SNAPPY elements, along with the DRIVE control for adding saturation, makes the Mutant Snare an incredibly versatile sound design tool.
