Industry

A sample-based sound design engine focused on gritty, dark soundscapes, pads and percussive presets with an industrial flavour. Its category-based sound design architecture in combination with an intelligent Randomize function allows for endless combinations of instant new highly usable presets.

Industry is a three layer virtual instrument drawing on mechanical, electric and synthesised/processed sounds. The sound design architecture is based on a combination of seven sound categories:

BASIC SYNTH.

COMPLEX SYNTH.

ENGINES.

GRANULAR (tonal).

LOOPS.

GRANULAR (non-tonal) and.

NOISE.

Each category has a particular function and properties which can be used to quickly come up with new sound combinations for specific purposes.

The mechanical and engine sounds in INDUSTRY are based on a large number of field recordings and close-mic'ed mechanical and industrial objects, including:

Electric Motors (electric drill, sander, lawnmower, dehumidifier, jigsaw, blender etc)
Resonant Metals (metal gate, pitchfork, radiator, scraped shelf, shovel, storage bin, washing machine drum, bicycle spokes, metal container, rake, wheelbarrow)
Other unusual materials (styrofoam, plant pots, masonry, etc)
Large industrial machinery (chipping machine, powder workshop).

In addition to mechanical/engine samples, there are over a hundred processed and synthesized sounds available as sources in INDUSTRY. They range from complex multi-voice sounds made using state of the art FM and subtractive synthesis to gritty granular sample processing and distortion pedal chains.

Industry is fully supported for NKS. Harnessing the power of Native Instruments' Komplete Kontrol keyboards, you have full hands-on control of the instrument, using the built-in display and parameter controls on the keyboard. This makes Industry accessible to blind and visually impaired musicians.
