Karacter 500 Series

The elysia karacter 500 is a versatile and powerful analog saturation and distortion unit for the 500 series format, designed to be a "mastering-grade coloring box." This two-channel module provides an enormous palette of tonal enhancement options, ranging from subtle, tube-like saturation that can warm up a master bus, to aggressive, harmonically rich distortion that can decimate a drum loop or synth line. The karacter 500 is engineered to give you complete control over the harmonic content of your audio, making it an essential tool for adding weight, grit, and personality to any source.

The unit features three distinct modes for each channel. The first is clean FET shred for a clear yet aggressive edge. The second is Turbo mode, which boosts the input signal to achieve much heavier and denser distortion. The third mode, 'Color', introduces a unique filter network that shifts the harmonic structure for asymmetrical distortion, resulting in more complex and interesting textures. The karacter 500 can be used in dual-mono for processing separate sources, in stereo-linked mode for cohesive bus processing, or even in M/S (Mid/Side) mode for advanced stereo image manipulation. A dry/wet mix control for each channel allows for easy parallel processing, blending the perfect amount of color with your original signal.
