Mezzmer

Like a mezze dish, Mezzmer serves an audio sample as little portions. Play, combine and rearrange these portions to a great meal.

A sample player that invites you to experiment with sample slices and combine them without having to edit and align them first. As you play, you will discover the beauty of the raw and imperfect combination of recorded audio. The main parameters allow you to quickly discover and select various combinations. Find your sweet spot or simply the most contrasting and unusual combinations. Use it as a starting point for new and unconventional ideas, or resample audio and edit it with Mezzmer to create new material.

Mezzmer originated from the basic idea to play a different part of a sample with each key of a MIDI keyboard and to control the distribution and duration of each slice with a few basic parameters. It was originally created for performances with an experimental/improvisational music group. Pretty soon, it became clear how 'musical' and interesting the raw combination of slices can be.
