Mimeophon

The Make Noise Mimeophon is a stereo multi-zone audio repeater that reimagines what a delay module can be. Co-designed with Soundhack, it transcends the typical echo effect, functioning as a stereo delay, looper, granular processor, resonator, and atmospheric sound generator. Its "Multi-Zone" concept allows it to store and repeat audio in up to 42 seconds of stereo audio across multiple "Zones," which can be played back in various ways to create effects ranging from classic delays and choruses to scattered granular clouds, shimmering reverbs, and complex, layered loops. The Mimeophon is an instrument in its own right, capable of transforming any sound source into a rich, evolving stereo texture.

The module's interface is centered around the ZONE and REPEATS controls. ZONE selects the core delay time, which can be dramatically skewed and modulated via CV. REPEATS controls the feedback, but at its maximum setting, it enters a "Hold" mode, freezing the current audio in the buffer for looping and manipulation. The HALO control adds a stereo "smear" to the repeats, creating diffuse, reverb-like textures. One of the Mimeophon's most powerful features is the COLOR control, which acts as a filter within the feedback path, allowing you to progressively darken or brighten the repeats over time. With stereo inputs and outputs, ping-pong modes, and CV control over nearly every parameter, including the playback direction (Reverse), the Mimeophon is an endless source of inspiration for creating dynamic, spacious, and complex soundscapes.
