The Behringer Neutron is a paraphonic semi-modular analog synthesizer that offers an incredible amount of synthesis power and flexibility in a compact and affordable package. It's an original Behringer design, not a clone, and it stands out with its unique character and vast sonic potential. Featuring two powerful oscillators, a versatile multi-mode filter, and a massive 56-point patch bay, the Neutron is a playground for sound designers and a perfect gateway into the world of modular synthesis. Its bold red color and robust desktop design make it a visually and sonically striking addition to any setup.
The Neutron's sound engine is built around two authentic 3340-lineage VCOs, capable of producing five different waveforms that can be blended together for complex timbres. A unique 'paraphonic' mode allows the two oscillators to be controlled independently for two-note playing. The signal can then be routed through a characterful 12dB state-variable filter, offering low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch modes. What truly sets the Neutron apart is its extensive modulation and utility section, which includes two ADSR envelopes, a flexible LFO with five waveforms, a sample-and-hold circuit, a slew rate limiter, and even an onboard analog delay and overdrive circuit. The semi-modular design allows for instant sound creation, but the massive patch bay encourages users to completely re-wire the synth's internal architecture and interface with other modular gear, leading to nearly infinite sonic possibilities.
