NoiseRverb is a free convolution reverb plugin that brings the acoustic heritage of historic churches in Quito, Ecuador, directly to your DAW. Developed by sound designer Jhonatan López in collaboration with engineers Analí Pinto and Fausto Espinoza for NoiseRoom UIO, this plugin captures the unique sonic identity of seven significant religious buildings through authentic impulse response recordings.

Features

NoiseRverb offers genuine convolution reverb processing with carefully captured impulse responses:

  • Seven Historic Churches: Access to authentic acoustics from San Francisco, Basílica, Catedral, Compañía, Guápulo, El Sagrario, and Santo Domingo.
  • Real-Time Convolution: High-quality convolution processing for realistic acoustic recreation.
  • On-Site Recordings: All impulse responses were recorded directly in the actual spaces using professional audio equipment.
  • Instant Access: Switch between different church acoustics to find the perfect space for your music.
  • Authentic Heritage Sound: Experience the natural reverberation characteristics of centuries-old architectural spaces.

Heritage Acoustics Concept

The plugin is built on the concept of heritage acoustics — the preservation and study of sound in historic spaces. Each church included in NoiseRverb represents a unique acoustic fingerprint that combines architecture, history, and sound engineering. These spaces offer natural reverberation characteristics shaped by their construction materials, architectural design, and age.

The impulse responses capture essential acoustic information including:

  • Natural reverberation decay specific to each church's architecture.
  • Reflection patterns created by stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and architectural details.
  • Absorption characteristics influenced by materials and interior design.
  • Spatial dimensions that create each church's distinctive acoustic signature.
