PHIFT is an experimental plugin to bring life into stiff low-end in (mostly) music with electronic-created low-end. It may work and sound good with acoustic-recorded sounds too but there is a great chance that acoustic-recorded kicks will sound a bit weird using PHIFT.
PHIFT uses phase and pitch to move around the low end in a way that will be perceived as more vibrant by the human brain. It's a bit of psychoacoustic magic. PHIFT uses the existing harmonics in the signal to make your brain perceive the fundamental but the existing fundamental in the signal will be slightly pitched, making your brain interpret the low-end to have a kind of chorus-like effect, which will feel more lively and vibrant.
