PRO-1

The Behringer PRO-1 is an analog synthesizer that meticulously recreates the sound and circuitry of a legendary American monophonic synthesizer from the early 1980s. This powerful and compact tabletop/Eurorack module captures the raw, aggressive, and incredibly versatile character that made the original a staple for artists in genres ranging from new wave and industrial to techno and funk. With its dual oscillators, classic 4-pole filter, and powerful modulation matrix, the PRO-1 is a sonic powerhouse capable of producing earth-shaking basses, cutting leads, and complex, evolving sound effects.

At the heart of the PRO-1 are its two authentic VCOs, one based on the 3340 chip and the other on the 3320, which can be synced for ripping hard-sync sounds or used independently for rich, detuned textures. The classic 24dB low-pass filter is key to its sound, capable of smooth sweeps and aggressive, self-oscillating resonance. What set the original apart, and is faithfully recreated here, is the flexible modulation routing. The "Poly-Mod" section allows the filter envelope and Oscillator B to be used as modulation sources for filter cutoff, pulse width, and Oscillator A's frequency, enabling complex FM and filter modulation sounds. The PRO-1 also includes a built-in sequencer and arpeggiator, adding even more creative potential to this already formidable synthesizer.
