QPAS

The Make Noise QPAS (Quad Peak Animation System) is a complex and dynamic stereo filter that ventures far beyond traditional subtractive synthesis. It is designed not just to filter a sound, but to animate it, creating swirling, evolving, and spatially complex textures. At its core, QPAS is a quad peak filter, meaning it has four separate filter peaks that can be moved and modulated to create vocal-like formants, rich phasing effects, and intricate resonant soundscapes. Its fully stereo signal path and unique modulation inputs make it an unparalleled tool for adding movement and dimension to your audio.

QPAS features a central master Cutoff Frequency control with two resonant peaks on either side, which can be spread out in the stereo field using the Radiate controls. This allows for the creation of wide, immersive filter sweeps. The most unique feature is the "Smile Pass" output, a special filter response that imparts a unique sonic character. In addition to the master cutoff, QPAS has two "¡¡" inputs that allow for modulation of the filter peaks in odd and even pairs, creating complex internal movements and formant-like shifts. With both low pass and high pass inputs, a bandpass output, and the unique Smile Pass output, along with extensive CV control over its parameters, QPAS is a deep and inspiring filter designed for sonic exploration in the stereo field.
