Spectraphon

The Make Noise Spectraphon is a groundbreaking dual spectral oscillator that pushes the boundaries of synthesis in the Eurorack format. This is not a conventional analog or digital oscillator; instead, it operates in the frequency domain, analyzing the spectral content of audio signals and using that information to create entirely new sounds. It functions as both a powerful, self-contained synth voice and a unique audio processor, allowing you to perform real-time spectral analysis and resynthesis. The module is composed of two identical sides, A and B. Each side can operate in one of two modes: Spectral Amplitude Modulation (SAM) or Spectral Array Oscillation (SAO). In SAO mode, the Spectraphon generates sounds based on a defined set of harmonics, which can be tuned and modulated. In the revolutionary SAM mode, the module listens to an external audio signal via its "Program" input, analyzes its spectrum, and applies that dynamic spectral profile to its own internal oscillator. This allows you to impart the timbral characteristics of a drum loop onto a drone, or the formant structure of a voice onto a sawtooth wave. With extensive CV control over parameters like Slide, Focus, and Partial selection, the Spectraphon is a deep, complex, and endlessly fascinating instrument for sound design and sonic alchemy.
