The Make Noise STO (Sub-Timbral Oscillator) is a compact and versatile analog voltage-controlled oscillator that packs a surprising amount of timbral variety into a small footprint. Designed to be the perfect companion to a complex oscillator like the DPO or to serve as a powerful primary voice on its own, the STO provides a range of classic and unique tones. It is engineered to excel at generating harmonically rich basslines, cutting leads, and nuanced sine waves, making it a workhorse VCO for any Eurorack system.

The STO offers three simultaneous waveform outputs: a pure SINE wave, a variable SHAPE output, and a SUB-octave output. The real magic lies in the variable SHAPE section. A single SHAPE knob, which is also voltage-controllable, continuously morphs the waveform from a smooth sine to a sharp saw, through a narrow pulse wave, and more, offering a huge palette of sounds from a single output. This allows for dynamic, evolving timbres that can be easily modulated. Additionally, the STO features a linear FM input with a dedicated attenuator for creating classic FM sounds, and a SUB output that generates a square wave one octave below the main pitch, perfect for adding weight and depth to your patches. With its wide frequency range and rich feature set, the STO delivers massive sound from a modest 8HP.
