The Behringer Surges is a classic analog multimode filter for Eurorack that delivers a distinctively smooth and "liquid" sound, modeled after the highly-regarded Mutable Instruments Ripples. This module provides the essential low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass filter types, making it a versatile workhorse for all fundamental subtractive synthesis duties. Its clean, musical character and loudness compensation feature make it exceptionally good at creating warm, resonant sweeps without losing low-end presence, a common issue with many filter designs.

Surges is based on classic analog semiconductor chips that contribute to its warm and organic tone, reminiscent of vintage Japanese synthesizers. It features two audio inputs, one of which can be overdriven for added grit and saturation. The low-pass and band-pass outputs are switchable between a gentle 12dB/octave slope and a steeper 24dB/octave slope for more aggressive filtering. A standout feature is the built-in VCA on the low-pass output, which allows the module to function as a compact, self-contained synth voice when paired with an oscillator and an envelope. With full CV control over frequency, resonance, and the VCA, Surges is a powerful and efficient sound-shaping tool.
