TapSkip is an audio effect that augments rhythms by making them denser and more complex.
TapSkip uses irregular delay taps to create structured patterns. It's a unique effect plug-in, and there are a few concepts and parameters that are either unique or that have unique importance. This is discussed more below.
Key Concepts:
Taps and Skips
TapSkip has two parameters named "Taps" and "Skips." The "Taps" parameter sets the number of delay taps, and the "Skips" parameter sets the number of skips. Skips are delay taps that are skipped. They can be thought of as silent delay taps.
Pattern Generation
The taps and the skips are mixed together to form a pattern of beats and non-beats. Both control parameters interact with each other when forming patterns. Other parameters, such as predelay, delay, feedback, and wet/dry can have a big on how a particular pattern sounds.
Shuffling
There are two buttons labeled "Shuffle Timings" and "Shuffle Levels." The former rearranges the tap-skip sequence, while the later rearranges the order of the tap levels. These two controls work in concert to create different patterns and to vary rhythmic texture.
