The Mad Scientist is a parallel RMS compressor with input-driven saturation, M/S processing, and auto-release. Push the input gain and the tubes glow - and so does your mix. Fixed 4:1 ratio, analog VU metering, and a Mix knob that dials from a hint of parallel compression to full NYC-style commitment.

How it works

Even-order harmonic saturation is baked into the input stage - no separate drive knob. Push the Gain control and saturation scales smoothly with the signal. Back off and it cleans up. The Mix knob blends the compressed wet signal against the uncompressed dry signal for natural-sounding parallel compression at any setting. Both wet and dry carry the input color, so the harmonic character stays consistent across the full Mix range.
