VIVO is a VST3 instrument that turns any sound — samples, noise, or live audio from your DAW — into expressive, harmonically rich, MIDI-playable timbres. It combines two distinct synthesis engines built around the same musical idea: organizing harmonic content around the played note, giving any source a musical identity.
Resonant Synthesis Mode feeds your sound source through a bank of 8 biquad IIR Peak filters, each tuned to a harmonic of the played MIDI note. These Peak filters selectively amplify harmonic regions while preserving the character of the original material. Only the resonance energy is extracted from each filter and summed — turning samples, white noise, pink noise, or real-time DAW audio into organic, melodic instruments. Peak Q controls the bandwidth of all 8 filters simultaneously, from wide and full to narrow and modal.
Resynth Mode replaces the filter bank with 8 sinusoidal oscillators guided by spectral analysis of the loaded sample. Inspired by modal synthesis, it gives you direct control over the excitation phase (Exciter), the natural decay after that excitation (Ring), inharmonicity, spectral tracking (XFollow/XTime), brightness tilt, and differential damping per harmonic. Sounds range from bells and struck metal to sustained strings and organic pads with coherent phase and defined attack.
Sampler — WAV, AIF, FLAC, OGG. Any recording becomes a harmonic timbre.
White Noise / Pink Noise — Percussive textures, dense pads, no defined harmonic source required.
DAW Input — Process any signal from your DAW through the harmonic bank in real time.
Resynth — Sample acts as exciter and spectral profile for the spectro-modal oscillator engine.
Individual gain faders for each of the 8 harmonics (H1–H8) let you sculpt the tonal balance directly — from near-sinusoidal (H1 only) to complex, instrument-like timbres (combinations of even and odd harmonics). The Mod Panel adds per-harmonic modulators: LFO (independent rate and depth per harmonic), AR Envelope (each harmonic fades in and out at its own speed), and per-harmonic Clip (soft or hard waveshaping with automatic gain compensation). A Character knob distributes global modulator settings across the 8 harmonics with deterministic variation — predictable, preset-saveable behaviour.
Source Input Gain Harmonic Bank / Resynth Saturation Global Filter AMP Envelope Output Gain.
The amplitude envelope follows the electrical behaviour of the CEM 3310 chip (Sequential Prophet-5, Oberheim OB-Xa): convex exponential attack with characteristic initial snap, concave exponential decay and release with a natural analogue tail.
The Global Filter (LP/HP/BP/Notch, State Variable TPT) comes with its own independent ADSR and keytracking — stable at high resonance.
Delay — Tape-style stereo delay, BPM sync with 17 rhythmic divisions, ping-pong, warmth filtering on feedback path.
Reverb — Convolution with embedded EMT-140 plate IRs (Bright / Medium / Dark). No external files.
Limiter — Brickwall with 5 ms lookahead, gain maximiser, and safety soft clip.
Presets use the proprietary .pk2 format — LZ4 compression + AES-256-CTR encryption + HMAC-SHA256 authentication, with the sample embedded directly in the file. No external sample dependencies. The preset manager stays open while you tweak — sort by name or category, mark favorites, and audition presets without closing the window.
Individual key, up to 2 machines, fully offline after activation.
