The Soloist by Wrongtools is an exhaustive sample library dedicated to the ARP Pro Soloist, the iconic monophonic synthesizer that defined the sound of 1970s progressive rock and fusion. Rather than relying on digital modeling or VST emulation, Soloist utilizes deep multi-sampling to capture the organic drift, voltage fluctuations, and "alive" character of the original analog circuitry.

This library brings the authentic textures used by pioneers like Tony Banks (Genesis), Herbie Hancock, and Vangelis directly into your Native Instruments Kontakt environment.

Captured Through a Boutique Signal Chain

To preserve the "crispy" and "stubborn" personality of the original hardware, every note was recorded at high resolution through a premium signal path. The raw oscillators were enriched using vintage hardware effects, including spring reverb tanks, tape echoes, and a Roland DEP-5:

• Per-Note Multi-Sampling: Each key was sampled individually to ensure a faithful reproduction of the synth's unique tonal profile across all octaves.
• Analog Imperfections: We preserved the subtle pitch drift and envelope variations that give hardware its distinctive warmth.
• FX Sculpt Engine: Beyond the 19 classic presets, our custom interface allows for advanced sound design, pushing vintage tones into modern cinematic realms.

Classic Presets and Expanded Patches

The library includes the 19 most iconic presets from the original 1972 unit, such as Buzz Bassoon, Cosmic Wow, Mute Trumpet, and Fuzz Guitar. These have been expanded into a suite of "Ensemble" patches and "Modified Leads," offering a breadth of sound that far exceeds the original keyboard's capabilities.

UPDATED 2026: Now includes 86 patches.

It was recorded through high-quality converters and enhanced with retro hardware effects, such as the DEP5 signal fader, which softens the sound beautifully.

Technical Requirements

Soloist requires the Full Retail Version of Kontakt 6.4.2 or later. It is compatible with all major DAWs, including Ableton Live, Logic Pro, and Cubase.
