ClassicTone-560

Version reviewed: 2.2.1 on Mac

There are many great EQs on the market right now. Some of them are clean some of them colorful some of them emulate old vintage hardware etc.

BUT this Tritone Digital ClasicTone-560 is something very special you can not find anywhere else. It does not emulate any vintage gear, IT IS a vintage gear right in your computer. That means it sounds and behaves the same as piece of hardware. And what hardware do I mean? No less than API560 10-band graphic equalizer which is probably the best sounding EQ ever made.

I made a lot of comparisons to all major competitive emulations but ClassicTone-560 wins hands down in terms of smoothness, fullness and overall character.

The CPU load is very low so you can use this Eq on all your tracks and buses. Stability is 100%. There were no crash or conflict with other plugins. (OS X 10.6.8, Logic 9.1.7, 64bit)

I strongly recommend this baby to all of them who are looking for creamy sounding and easy to use plugin from the high-end class.

MasterVerb

I own this reverb plugin more than year and use it a lot.
The main reason is its fantastic ER engine. For me this is the best ER engine I have ever heart from VST reverb plugin. If you need to make unhearable depth and surround around any source material then try it and you will be surprised how quiet but efficient it can be.

Decay part of Masterverb algorithms is a little bit weaker than ER. There are Hall and Plate and for me they seems to be less effective and smooth I would expect.

Overal sound of WA Masterverb is warm and musical.

GUI is very nice and very easy to understand. There are a lot of parameters and graphic 3D screen for better and faster workflow. One feature I miss is stereo width and position feature. I hope it will be included in the next version.

There are a lot of useful presets and you can set your starting/default preset (what is still very unique but useful feature).

CPU load of this baby is near to nothing and you can use it offten as insert FX.

Customer support is fast and professional. I have never waited for answer more than few minutes.

Breverb 2

Version reviewed: 1.1.1 on Windows

I tried a lot of reverb plugins for PC but never found something what sounds good and has low CPU usage.
Now I own Breverb, native reverb plugin with exceptional ratio between sound quality and CPU usage.

As I said, the sound quality and CPU usage is excelent but I can not say the same about user interface which seems to be the weakness of this baby mainly the work with presets is sometimes very confusing because of small place for presets handling and reset of preset window everytime I close the plugin window. The small stereo width faders are also not the best solution. Other things are OK.
The positive difference against its competitors is that you never heard clicks and drops while changing the presets and values. Everything works like a charm.

Sound quality is very subjective thing. For me the sound of Breverb is impressive and you will never believe how fine reverb processor can sound with that low CPU consumption. The overal sound is crystal clear with big depth and uncolored tail. This crystality sometimes evokes a little bit digital feeling.
There are 4 different algos: HALL, PLATE, ROOM and INVERSE
All of them are on the same quality level and highly useful and all of them are fully editable in all possible and impossible parameters.

Customer support is excelent. I got right answer via mail in 10 minutes :)

I use Breverb more than month under Ableton Live without any crash or indication of instability.
