Mix Lock

Mix Lock is an independent music software developer based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2024 by Paul Smith — a peak-time trance producer who got frustrated with the gap between knowing how to use a compressor and knowing how to make a track land at 1am at peak time, and built the reference framework he wished existed.

Two years of solo development. No team, no investors, no PR agency. Every encyclopedia entry, every calibrated default, every chain audit rule, every diagnostic threshold was decided and written by one person who actually produces in the genre.

The first product, Mix Lock 1.0 — Peak Time Trance Edition, released 2 May 2026. It runs as a desktop application on Mac (Apple Silicon + Intel universal) and Windows, with a Python control surface for Ableton Live integration. Apple Developer ID signed and Apple-notarised. AES-256-GCM encryption on the bundled IP. Lifetime licence, two machines per key.

Future genre editions — Techno first, with House, DnB and others to follow — are planned as separate products. Each will be calibrated independently for its target genre rather than retrofitted as a mode of a single tool. Founders of any edition receive a discount on every future edition.
