I added a couple notes and want to move them to be adjacent to existing notes.
TIA
When I do I get this display effect.
What is the meaning? (Impression is overlap, but snap says can't be )Note Edit Proximity Effect

Yes, good observation, the notes are overlapped.
While the phrase is snapped, the notes may be at a fractional position. It is a good idea not to have space before the first note of a phrase.

"It is a good idea not to have space before the first note of a phrase."
FWIW
Those seem to have occurred as a result of detecting phrases on a midi file import. Perhaps related to the multiple note offs item you worked recently. (Existing compo has the previous import...)
