S3 vs S2 drop tuning

I heard S2 guitars were drop G while S3 was drop A. Wondering if this is true or not.

Post

It's true, and the reason for this is simply conforming to the actual tuning of the guitar that was sampled. This impacts the chord shapes for the strumming engine etc. S2 didn't have this so it didn't worry about that, instead it went for lower range. You can always drop the instrument tuning 2 semitones if you want to have a drop G guitar. :)

I went as far as 432hz -7 tone with Jupiter.
I'm either sporting an 8 strings guitar or close to a 9 strings!
Doom metal meets Crust Grind lol!
One way or another, you can't deny death.

We're dead but we just don't know it yet.

I also noticed about an hour ago, whilst updating some of my files with S3, that tuning went from GEADGBE to drop-A. The reasons you stated regarding chord shapes and such is understandable, it also makes more sense since drop-A is much more common and would be more desired among people who write on guitar.

Is the strumming engine also why the single string tuning function removed?
In Shreddage 2, Midi CC #103-109 controlled the tuning of individual strings ±2 semitones). This would solve ---'s issue.

Oh well, I rarely need such low notes or use strange tuning, so I'm not complaining too hard :)

I do however wonder: those two lowest notes in Shreddage 2 (G and G# on the 7th string) are they gone now? I'm guessing since Jupiter was recorded in drop-A they were just artificially downtuned from the A note and not actually sampled?

Yes those notes weren't actually sampled, just stretched samples.

BTW - Bought Shreddage Abyss this week, reading through the manual and it says:
"Shreddage 3 Abyss is a super versatile instrument that starts at a floor-shaking drop G"

Nope, it's drop A. I'm guessing Shreddage Bass 2 was drop G, just like Shreddage 2 was.
Seems the manual needs an tiny update, just so you know :)
