Hi, I've been exploring both synths and I think it's an extraordinary addition. But I would like to have just one, not both.
Is there any plan on being able to import Socalabs wavetables and patches into Traction version ?? In fact Tracktion is more complete, but Scalabs one has way more patches, which would be an starting point for Tracktions version new patches.
Also I think that Wavetable would be a wonderful platform for sharing patches with other users the way Vital users share banks. Anyone else thinks that could be interesting ??
Wavetable Traction and Socalabs compatibility

My plan way to import all the patches from the SocaLabs version into the Tracktion version, but I ran into a few issues:
- 100 of the wavetables in the SocaLabs version were cleared for the OpenSource version, but not cleared for the paid version. You could download them yourself: https://bvker.com/free-serum-wavetables/
- I used a different envelope, it's better because you can curve the segments. But it calculates release times different, SocaLabs version is based on time from 100%, where as Tracktion version it based on current value.
- Tracktion version has different LFOs and no step LFO.

Hi Figbug and thanks for your answer. It's a shame that they aren't 100% compatible.
In any case if they were located at some directory maybe we could copy the patches and open them on the Traction version and finish adjustments manually.
Regarding the free open source tables, once downloaded how can be used on the Tracktion version ?? loaded one by one ??

Same situation here. → OSC has more adjustment knobs
→ 2nd Filter available
→ ENV can curve the segments (note that it calculates release times different (is based on current value, while the SocaLabs edition is based on time from 100%))
→ 4th LFO is different, and all 4 offer much more design possibilities (they are advanced MSEG design instead of classical LFO design); however, in the SocaLabs edition the 4th LFO is a step LFO (not this easy to have in the TRC edition, you have to create it yourself)
◇ practical difference:
- LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator): produces a repeating modulation pattern automatically, based on a waveform (sine, triangle, square, etc.), speed, depth, and maybe a few options like sync to tempo or fade-in.
- MSEG (Multi-Stage Envelope Generator): curve and draw your own modulation shape using multiple points. Depending on the synth, it can play once like an envelope, loop like an LFO, or loop only part of the shape.
the TRC edition can load many waveforms which by their preset points come close to classical waveshapes (close to a sine, for instance)
→ additionally available Fx:
• EQ
• Limiter
• Filter
Gate offers more adjustment parameters
Reverbs are said to be better, but I cannot judge on this
→ 4 Macros available
→ keyboard expression handles are directly visualized for mouse dragging them to their assignment target (SocaLabs has them only in the SRC list)
→ new wavetables can be added to an OSC by drag & drop, or via the + sign right top of the OSC pane, but they will inflate the *tracktionedit file because the wavetable data becomes recognized only by the particular Waveform project; note that only WAV format can be imported as provided for instance here: https://bvker.com/free-serum-wavetables/ ;
→ new presets will be found by all Waveform Projects if placed into the respective folder (for instance on Linux):
~/.config/Tracktion/Wavetable/programs/
- SocaLabs has extra:
→ much more sound presets, and much more wavetables
many of these (but not all!) could be downloaded elsewhere (https://bvker.com/free-serum-wavetables/)
→ graphical animation of the stepwise progress during the run of LFO and ENV shapes
→ new wavetables can be placed to the respective folder and are always automatically found
