From the days when Chris had interesting ideas to write about before his songs became "simpering, mawkish kack" (Description courtesy of Bill Bailey.)

Do you think Mo Tucker inspired the invention of drum machines?

BlackMoon1348 - Sidpa Bardo
(I've been reading Harry Sword's (new?) book Monolithic Undertow: In Search of Sonic Oblivion and checking out some bands I'm unfamiliar with. When I think drone metal I immediately think of Sunn O))), but there's a lot more out there, and way more diverse influences than I would have guessed.)

although sleep, came first, but they are "less" drone imo. more doom a la cathedral and such. but that is probably the beginning of "drone metal" as a genre, coming out of death.
death and obituary, being the bridge between death and doom.
teeth of lions rule the divine are pretty good, a supergroup of drone
this is all imo, not like ive researched, just my memory of the early days of doom/drone metal
may grab a copy of the book though, sounds interesting cheers
