yeah.. now that you mention it.. that snare.. am listening to it now.. i haven't listened to this in a very long time. that snare sound sounds pretty cool actually. you dont really hear that much anymore. i find some of those vocal parts on this corrosion a little more annoying than the snare.GaryG wrote: βFri Apr 23, 2021 10:12 pmAlso XTCs infamous Skylarking sessions I guess.telecode wrote: βFri Apr 23, 2021 4:27 pm Actually he was the songwriter on Bat Out of Hell. Todd Rundgren produced it. If you listen to some Utopia records, you will hear the similarities in sound. They were all done in the weird studio Rundgren had in Woodstock, NY.. also some really ground breaking new wave records done in that studio .. early Psychedelic Furs and Lords of the New Church..
They were always way OTT to me but that was the appeal. Though find it hard to listen to them now, stuff like that incessant snare, just horrible. Those Sisters records were cool for their time.. but they haven't aged well. I think they had Eddie Martinez on guitar (the same session player that played on Robert Palmer records.. )

They played that song a lot leading up to the solar eclipse in 2019(?) and I realized the reason I didn't like it was because it sounded a lot like Meat Loaf. I ran right to allmusic.com which confirmed that it was penned by Jim Steinman.melomood wrote: βFri Apr 23, 2021 11:36 pmYea I had to do a double check & make sure they were talking about who I thought they were talking aboutmumpcake wrote: βFri Apr 23, 2021 1:54 am I shouldn't be surprised that on this board that is what he is best remembered for. Honestly I wouldn't have guessed that he had anything to do with Sisters based on his more popular output.

My brain goes right to Meatloaf when I see that name (even tho Total Eclipse was the song I liked)
When I saw Sisters on the list, all I could think of was ..

Kind of the big 80s snare taken to extremes. Still a cracking track though.

Sisters went downhill for me after Hussey joined.
But I do have a soft spot for JS work with Meat and Bonnie, awesome tunes. Gonna have a listen right now.
