Before anyone rushes to Stress...(and its interesting the market difference on KVR and Gearslutz)...but Voxengo Marquis seems like it can get very close to a distressor...and its an excellent compressor in its own right...

I started a thread. Not sure if it's iLok or people just don't like their subscription model, but whatever the case, to each his own.Jax Pok wrote:There is one on KVR somewhere but KVR doesn't like ilok protected plugins.

Drums A 4.1: is more natural sounding compression
Drums B 4.1: is centred and forward in comparison
Drums A Nuked: again natural for nuked
Drums B Nuked: most forward again
They are very close and hard to judge which one is better. On drums in solo I'd choose A for the natural hidden compression. In a mix I might choose B for its upfront presence.
I hope A is Marquis but considering the time put into r&d, naming rights blah blah... Slate has invested in Stress it might be the HW'esque compression everyone loves.

Very interested in the settings you used to make Marquis sound like FG-Stress.

It was a painful communication strategy (annuncements, delays, etc.), but the FG-Stress sounds fantastic.

New Sknote Disto has been released.
If you bought it previously the update is in your download area, I just checked and installed it.
Curiously the file size is considerably smaller.

Amazon: why not use an alternative

I'm no Golden ears and I only use compressors as an effect for obvious changes to the sound, so I can only comment on its ability when jacked up to bring out sound you wouldn't hear without it.Everglide wrote:Thanks Vari, will try it in the morning. How does she sound?
Stick it on a sampled drum loop and you'll see what mean
