Otherwise I can highly recommend it.

Melodya somehow didn't do anything for me when I tried the demo.

Hmm, yeah I spotted that, but I don't really see the problem, for me anyway, as I routinely use the IAC Driver in my MIDI mangling adventures. What's your (presumably workflow related) objection to that?

As a deep fan of RapidComposer and its dev, I'm certain that MANY changes and additions are in store for Melodya, so I'm happy to support it now; advise all who hesitate to keep checking back:)

If you like Sundog you should have a view on chord potion from feel your sound. It is a vst intended mostly to split up feed in chords into a riff but you can do very crazy things with it inside your daw. And as it has 4 midi channels you can feed into whatever you want....

I am sharing the opinion about Attila/RC but very mixed emotions about Melodya so far (just wrote it in the Melodya thread before coming in here). If it would have been out BEFORE something like Captain plugins, Orb producer, Melodysauce and and and......I would have bought without even trying the demo ("made by Attila" :-) ) but these competitors are there now and for me it feels really like a beta version of an outsourced module where I just cant see if it ever will be an indepently product. Then 40 bucks is a lot of money if you already have it inside RC. But I will be glad if my doubts could be disproved while the intro prize period lasts.

Well, I prefer to keep things in one project in Bitwig, so that when I reload it, all the components are there. Also, since I'm usually more into interactive generative things that change over time, static creations aren't my first choice.

Thanks tatanka, always wanted to have a look at Chord Potion but somehow didn't. I think it's either that or Scaler 2 for me next.

Yup, me, too, at least in the sense that I like to be able to modulate every aspect of a set up, which would ideally include all the MIDI FX. That's actually one reason I use the IAC driver so often, so I can modulate incoming MIDI that can't be modulated at the source, or modulated the same way as in another DAW (I usually send all to Logic, which has great MIDI FX and esp. neat scripts.)

But as you say, that stuff can't be simply recalled.

David wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 7:57 pm Much as I still intend to support the MusicDevelopments tool Melodya, I just stumbled on this video for SunDog Song Studio, which I hadn't really yet explored, and it seems to offer the same split between melody line and melodic rhythm, already very well worked out including chords and drums. (I guess this has been mentioned here already, but I somehow missed it—sorry!)

Yes, Hauke the developer is very helpful. I have his Xoxtopad. The videos look interesting enough and will have SunDog Song Studio move up a notch on my list.

If you're a Reason user, this generative sequencer was just released and it's pretty damn cool!

Another good reason not to buy the Reason Intro for the Rack and the Players. Bottomless pit to throw money into buying all the great Players.

psynical, really thanks for the info. Just hope that the Reason Intro does not go on sale.

I've got quite a few modulation devices, but this one has become my favorite since it can send out so many at once, and the modulations are so flexible and easy to adjust.

It's nowhere near as deeply flexible as the Melda one, but much easier to get going with—at least in Logic since this one comes as an AU MIDI FX.

Trying to decide on Harvest. Is it the best for what it does?

^^Which Melda one?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I'm generally against generative plugs.....but they can be an effective writers block breaker for some people when the better methods are'nt working....
Harvest is an elegant implementation that strikes a balance between power and immediacy/accessibility ,...flirting with the sweet spot for whats probably the largest swath of potential users.
Problem is its been over a year and he still hasn't fixed what i think is its biggest problem.....it would be much more useful and musical, if you weren't limited to tapping in a phrase in a single note length type....just allow holding down the tap button so you could enter a phrase with rhythm AND multiple note lengths.
But as is last i checked, it forces you to think of phrasing in only one note type, or to record multiple passes changing note length....which doesn't feel natural at all......when a phrase comes into most people's heads it is never of a single note length variety.....that way you could essentially tap out a groove or phrase in terms of note on and duration, and then have the algorithm rearrange the phrase in terms of pitch, locked by different musical boundaries you could set....my 2 cents
Music had a one night stand with sound design.....And the condom broke

Sorry—THIS (discussed here back when it came out):

https://www.meldaproduction.com/MCCGenerator

Be sure to watch the video on that page, quite amazing what this one can get up to:)

ONLY problem is, they SAY it's free, but when I got it I found that it wouldn’t actually work until I upgraded the entire free Bundle to the PAID version, which was around $50! I found that worth it for all sorts of reason, mainly so I could adjust the window size on some of the other invaluable devices in the bundle (my fav being the Convolver, a wonderful device!), but a bit of a come down after thinking it was really free. I can't recall exactly what was not working…and maybe I'm wrong, but whatever it was, it got fixed by upgrading!

Unfortunate thing #2: There's no AU MIDI FX version, so it won't work in Logic unless you host it inside a VST wrapper, and then fiddle with getting it to target the right knob in the plugin you want to modulate, so that's what I was originally commenting on. No doubt less of a thing in other DAWs.

I trust your judgement when it comes to midi fx and such.
Yep, I got it!

Next it is to get Melodya and on 5-27-20 get Scaler 2.
And perhaps beyond that get Riffer 2 and Midi Madness 3 or wait for 4?
