Thanks, StClair!

So glad I made it to the 2nd round on my first Mix Challenge! Your wife's dog did add a lot of character to the song! Why use this plugin (http://www.bozdigitallabs.com/product/bark-of-dog/) if you have the real deal?

Here is my second round mix. Glad you liked the bass (you did mention it was an important element of the song!). As requested, the last snare hit was also brought down and the drums were automated to be quieter on the verses (and punchy on the end). The toms are cutting through a little better with some more automation. I think the mix is a lot more balanced now.

Hey everyone!

I was very happy to be part of this 2nd round. As requested i automated the snare reverb on some hits and made the rhythm guitars brighter (more present?). Lets hope i didn't overdo it :D

Thanks for the feedback. The kick really sounded weird, so I worked on the kick and snare and left the rest of the mix basically untouched.

Hat and snare volume adjusted, and strings where fattened a bit.
Various other small improvements done. Good luck everybody

Thank you everyone for your participation - with this post, the 2nd Mix Round of the Mix Challenge has officially ended.

The tracks will now go into evaluation. Please re-check your links and make it possible to download the material. Thank you.

There is one slight catch however...

Jeff St.Clair won't be able to listen to and evaluate the material. He wrote me the other day that something happened in his private live that is out of his hands, and that he's cut off of the net until further notice. So he asked me to please step in and take over to select the top 5 spots.

Which I will do, but it will be postponed until later this week at bar minimum, since I'm busy throughout the week and I need to get further acquainted with the submitted mixes first. Jeff is really sorry about this, and so am I on behalf of the Mix Challenge staff - but there always seem to be some sort of higher power at work that changes your daily plans.

On a positive sidenote:
Mix Challenge #18 will start on 1st February. I'll roll the dice during the course of this week to select a suitable track out of the pool. So please have an eye on the Production Techniques sub-board and/or our Twitter account.

And if you have a track that you'd love to see mixed as part of a future Mix Challenge, please PM me.

Good luck for those who reached round 2, seems you nailed that sound ;)

Just a really short update on this.

No, the final evaluation is not being forgotten. I'm just super busy currently.
I hope to tackle that task this weekend.

Sorry for the delay/inconvenience.

Short update - my recent weeks have been really busy.

Here is the planned time table for the next couple of days/weeks:
- MC19 will start on 1st March
- MC18 Round 2 will end on 4th March (winners podium announced ASAP)
- MC17 will (hopefully) be announced this following weekend (end of 6th March latest)

I tried to get a hold of Jeff StClair without any success (which worries me myself), and I just didn't have the time to fully take over. I'm really sorry about this and the inconvenience this has caused. I will get to to the bottom of this instantly.

Once more - thanks for your patience. That is definitely appreciated.

Hey, didn't make it to second round but just wanted to say thanks for the feedback.

Hello, Everyone!

I have to apologize to everyone who participated in this challenge but some things in my private life went really screwy and I had to focus my attention elsewhere for a while. I won't go into detail but I will say that one of the situations may be over as my wife had cancer surgery a few weeks ago. The future looks bright on that front and I hope you will forgive my absence.

At any rate, I am back and I have downloaded all of the 2nd round entries to go over. Please give me a few days to re-acclimate myself and I will announce the winner(s).

Again, apologies to one an all.

Post

Hey Jeff.

Good to see you back!
All the best to your wife, I hope everything will be fine.

Post

So nice to see that you're back, Jeff.

I also have to apologize for the radio silence on my (our) end - I always tried to work MC17 into my crazy schedule, but it never worked out and just didn't know how to address this.
