Hey, guys!
Happy New Year to everyone!
Here's my version:
https://soundcloud.com/smartmix/vivolat ... thiagoam88
WAV: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_g4B ... mFVc25wVG8
MP3: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_g4B ... 3NNQWh4NUk
A couple of comments:
- After considering @vivolator's feedback, I kept both snares, but heavily compressed the second one to use it as the body of the hits;
- Instead of using the provided sidechain kick trigger, I used Soundtoys' rhythmic tremolo (Tremolator) to create a groovy-er feel with the 16th note guitar;
- Also used a flanger pedal in the chord guitar to make it more alive;
- The only FX on the lead vocals are a touch of plate reverb and a simple mono delay;
- Doubles and harmonies also have a doubling effect.
If anyone has any question regarding my mix, feel free to ask!
Best of luck to all!

Hi all,
I'm hearing some cool stuff in all of the submissions so far, so: nice going, everyone! Some of the creative choices are very nice surprises to hear.
My goal is to have a listening session with all the tracks side by side,volume matched, to see which one pulls the most out of the (somewhat rough) source material. As far as I can tell, I have everyone's mix so far (except for hate9; do you happen to have a DL link by chance?)
I'd also like to throw out something to everybody in the challenge: There's a soundbank for Synth1 that I've never made available that I would like to present to all the contestants. You may or may not use that particular plugin, but I've stuck in all kinds of good stuff, like classic synths, famous patches and some of the sounds on the very song you're mixing (the Jupiter-8 preset recreations featured on my soundcloud page are also in there). Once this challenge is finished, I'll upload the bank and PM the link to the participants as a thank you for taking the time to do the mix challenge.
Thanks,
STV/Vivolator

Folks, we're at the "36 hours left" mark.
Can we try to exceed 10-15 participants?

A friendly reminder in the meantime:
We're in the final 24 hours until the end of the current challenge
Now is the time to finish your mix, upload it and submit it to this thread. I'd love to see 10 participants at least.

Hi there,
Here's my mix. Awesome song, never boring hearing it for the nth time during mixing!
I tried to focus on marrying the vocals, kick, snare and bass with the rest of the pumping groove.
Vocal transients were indeed quite sharp at some points, I tried to soften it out a bit.
I did not touch the rest of the elements that made this vocal performance quite heart-wrenching.
The sounds of the bass and the voice made me want to make an 80's gated reverb snare and the voice not very bright-sounding.
With this mix, I also gave the Airwindows plugins a big try, very surprising little things they are.
Enjoy!

Edit: mixnotes
As stated, I experimented with Airwindows plugins.
PurestGain for gaining without cumulative loss of sound-quality caused by digital calculations and resulting truncation or whatever happens at the nth bit change
Pressure4 for squish and fat.
Channel4 simulating SSL mixchannel saturation on all groups and 2-buss.

I've actually got a few minutes to spare!!! A massive amount of work on the vocals to get rid of (or tame) so many digital glitches. Other than that, it was a blast to mix. A very cool song!
