Wasn't that already after their G-Force robot tuning system? I think the those coming stock on almost every Gibson guitar coming out of the factory was when they had completely lost the plot.Stupid American Pig wrote:While a Les paul looks great in those colors, I dont think I would like to stare at les paul monitors all day.I would say that is the moment that gibson jumped the shark...(under this ownership)ghettosynth wrote:In case anyone needs new monitors, these are on sale right now at MF. To be fair, it's also a genre thing.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Ugly as shit! And I reckon the Stratocaster to be more iconicghettosynth wrote:In case anyone needs new monitors, these are on sale right now at MF. I don't want anyone to miss out, you know?

Strats/Les Pauls in rock + pop
Tele for country
Ibanez, Jackson, Kramar and company for the shred dudes and 80s hair bands
Gibson hollow body for jazz
etc.. etc...
But, I don't think anyone would argue against Les Pauls and Strats being the most recognizable guitars.

I do agree that each genre tends to have it's own iconic gear. And while most guitars can be used in most genres, the Strat, imo, seems to crossover the best (Kramers don't do country, but Yngwie shreds on a Strat). And for those who don't have a preference for genre, just taking in what comes via popular music through the ages, I reckon on the Start being more recognisable than the Gibson purely on the strength of the amount of popular iconic guitarists having played them.SJ_Digriz wrote:To be fair, it's also a genre thing.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Ugly as shit! I'd think that the default theme fits this bill nicely - way to many buttons and way to many options. It really looks like the actual guitar of Les Paul (the "Recording" model, not that polished archtop wannabe).whyterabbyt wrote:So is there a Les Paul theme for Reaper yet?

Dude I was generalizing what a particular guitar is associated with at first thought. Every guitar can be used for anything.
