Music Radar did a review of Studio One 4 Pro.... autumn last year here.

And there is the main Studio One feature progress update / discussion thread here.

If it had kontrol mk2 support I'd give so4 more consideration.

Presonus have supposedly been sent the SDK (Software Development Kit) recently for these keyboards and thus have been in contact with NI, however it remains to be seen if Presonus brings full NKS support ( whatever that entails ) to Studio One. Studio One 4.5 is predicted for release in the latter half of May 2019... (so it might be there then).

You can set up these keyboards, vie an alternative method, one as a Midi Keyboard and the other as a Mackie Controller.

Predicted by who? Sounds like something that someone just made up out of thin air.

Well it's been over a year since the keyboards came out and since studio one users have been requesting support. Plus, NI does not allow mcu support for the mk2 keyboards.

Since you said Pro Tools and Logic are not options my next choice would be Ableton Live, especially since you mentioned electronic and hip hop as focal points. IMO Ableton has a workflow geared more towards the creative process. It is also the best option if you ever plan on using your DAW in live situations.

Right now I'm debating between ableton and cubase. I also play heavy metal guitar so I want to be able get good metal and this is where I wonder if ableton would be ok for it or maybe if I can pair ableton with cakewalk by bandlab and do my metal guitar recording in cakewalk.

You can track your guitar in Ableton, it is a fully functional DAW.

Ableton, Reason, Reaper, Studio One, Cubase. Whichever workflow you prefer.

I'm a Cubase fan, so id say Cubase 10. However, Cubase was my first DAW and the DAW I know best I. Id say go and demo some and choose one to learn reasonably well.

Tho both of them are out of what Im willing to pay for a DAW considering I bought both Reaper and Waveform for $100 together and Cakewalk is free.

DAWS are starting to come down to the field you work like Ableton and FL Studio have the EDM/Hip hop scene on lock. Pro Tools has studios on lock. Reaper is seemingly starting to take over the sound designer/video game music scene. Cubase seems to be a European popular thing while Logic is Mac.

I like Studio One alot tho and its becoming the happy medium between the other DAWS.
I'll put my hand up. Huge DP fan here.

Based on the fact that it's been around since the early '80s and can still load projects created back then, I'd say that if future-proofing one's work means anything to someone, he or she'd consider it.

I think DP has pigeon-holed themselves into a composers only DAW for what reasons I don't know why. But it's an extremely powerful DAW that is somewhat lost in the sauce nowadays.

I'm surprised how precise the prediction actually was... :D
