Question: I already ordered the upgrade and I was wondering if there was a way to not download the data for the original Pan Drum again.

only by not downloading any of it!
no, it's all nicely wrapped up in one compressed package.

I wouldn't think so, but just out of curiosity (anxiety), is there any kind of time limit on the "upgrade"?
I have to budget.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

we were asked today if the new Pan Drums instrument will load into a project instead of the old version.
here's the low down on that :
1. If you didn't edit the original patch, we provide the legacy instruments in
a subfolder, as you know. So just load the correct instrument from there
instead.
2. If you edited the instrument, it depends which Kontakt you edited it
with. It is very likely that an old song doesn't use Kontakt 4.2.2 or
later.
If that's the case, then you need to get your instrument into Kontakt 4.2.2
first. ie. You can save your edited instrument from Kontakt 3, open it
again in Kontakt 4.2.2, THEN save your song.
In other words : Make sure all your old songs are working in the latest Kontakt before
erasing Pan Drum version 1.
If you've done this to your old songs, you can freely erase our old library.
Now, Kontakt 4 has the option to "Allow alternative file types" in the
Samples Missing dialogue.
Check this button, and then point "Browse for Folder" at the new Pan Drums
Library folder, and it will use the new .NCW compressed samples when loading
the song.

I got Pan Drum today, oh my, this is pure beauty!!
One of the very best Kontakt instruments I have (and I have a lot).
I simply cannot stop playing it
All my compliments to SonicCouture.
