I had an epiphany in Live4 tonight and I think I need to sell Tracktion. Better it get some love than just sit idle on my computers. If anyone's interested PM me.

Thanks Koolkeys. I just needed to get off the fence. I've been sitting there for a while.koolkeys wrote:I think you'll regret it.What if T2 is worth upgrading to you? Or maybe you're sure it won't.
Here's to making the right decision.......

Just sold my T1 license myself. There are quite a few people who offered to buy so you should have no problem selling. Upgraded to Samplitude V8 with no regrets so far. I will be checking on T2 though to see what kind of progress they make, I will still recommend it to all my customers and friends.

I just licensed Tracktion and cancelled my Samp order last week (the guy at JRRShop said "we just got them in" - finally came in after waiting since October).Sielsynth wrote:Upgraded to Samplitude V8 with no regrets so far.
I used Samp7 heavily for a while, and it sounds really good. Not trying to bash it, just posting an interesting test I did on my own:
Tracked acoustic in the Samp8 demo and T1 (same channel setup), mixed the raw tracks (no plugs, no eq), imported them into both Samp8 and T1, and made two final mixes of Samp8 (with one Samp8 panned left, one T1 panned right) and T1 (same panning, same combo). Recorded that output on my CD-RW2000 so that I could listen on other devices, and they both sounded great (practically identical, IMO). I couldn't tell the difference, but my ears are still learning. I just know they both sounded great.
Samplitude is loaded with a lot of great features. T1 is definitely the easiest to get around.
Funny how everyone has different tastes, especially in software. We all have different features we need.
Keep us posted on your Samplitude sessions. I always like to know what the other software has going on (Nuendo included too).
Thanks,
MT

I've been really leaning towards trying my hand at some "Art of Noise" type projects. Maybe Samplitude will be my inspiration. New sequencer, new ideas.
Hi, I did not buy Samplitude thinking it would "sound" better. I know this discussion has been worked over many times here and every other forum I've been on. When it comes down to it (IMO) all the software sequencers sound pretty much the same. I bought it for it's more powwerful editing and mastering(read included effects) capabilities. I was using Adobe Audition(demo) along with Tracktion and loving it! When the Adobe Demo ran out I couldn't decide if I wanted to buy it and T2 or try Samplitude. I decided it couldn't hurt to try Samplitude. So once I learned how to edit midi tracks(it's so easy!!!) create midi loops (simply highlight the object and click loop) and audio loops I was sold!!! The interface is much more cumbersome than Tracktion of course, but I've used so many sequencers that a little snooping or a quick glance at the manual usually gets me where I want to be. The effects are awesome and Robota(the drum machine) is pretty cool as well. There are so many options for automation and routing that it's a bit overwhelming even for a software junkie like myself. Anyway, my first few recording sessions have went fairly well. I am able to do at least as much as I could do with Tracktion and Audition and I've only had it a couple of weeks. I feel that in the coming months as I learn the tool I will save time in editing, leaving me more time to concentrate on the music. Who knows I might even write something other than hip-hop.Keep us posted on your Samplitude sessions

Of course you need to try new things!
The ONLY reason I question the decision to sell is:
Is it worth more to you as a sequencer or as $40. $40 isn't even a meal for 2, and these days barely covers a movie!
If you know for sure that it'll never be touched again, then it's worth more as $40 than as bytes of information on a disc somewhere.
But if you have any doubts at all, it may be worth more as a sequencer than as cash.
Just a perspective.

Yeah, I have no doubts. I've just resigned myself to resampling when necessary in Live4. It has everything I need and the workflow is perfect for me. I figure if I can save someone *more than* $40 off the cost of T2, that'll be cool for them and cool for me. Plus, I want to get one of those Yamaha midi guitar deals and my wife isn't feeling too empathetic to my music-making needs. Gotta raise the cash somehow.Lunch Money wrote:Of course you need to try new things!

Yeah, I really thought about this for a long while. I wouldn't let Tracktion go without a fight. It can definitely give you a better sounding end product IMO, but I'm just not a pro, and the looping stuff in Live4 is just too integral to my way of thinking, raw as it may sound sometimes (I grew up on a Boss Dr-110, I think in patterns).Lunch Money wrote:A smart and thought-out choice, then.Someone will surely benefit from the low-cost path to T2.

I'll buy it, if Mackie can actually transfer the license to my account. Is that possible?

Hi Sage,
Yeah, I just give you my user name and password, and you change the info to you as owner. I then no longer have access to the account, and you're in contrrol of the license. Beno from Mackie confirmed this is legal. I'm waiting on someone getting back to me now, but I'll let you know if that doesn't work out.
You get a license to run Tracktion on two computers, I personally ran one on Mac and one on PC.
I'll post back here within an hour, if I don't hear back from the other guy, it's yours.
