Does anyone else have problems using SIR with Sonar?

I find that Sonar won't run when I insert SIR on a track or bus.
I'm not sure whether this has got worse since I moved to version 4.0.2 of Sonar.

SIR did cause quirky problems before too, but now Sonar just won't even run at all.

I'd love to fix this because SIR is a great reverb that I want to use!

I have had the problem that Sonar doesn't remember what IR file was in use when saving projects.

The problem isn't really Sonar, but SIR's problems running at low latencey's with PDC.You'll either have to raise your latencey a bit and use SIR during mixing or rescan the plug and disable PDC.Your best bet would be to spend the cash and get Voxengo's Pristene Space which runs fine at low latecey's.

ah..I wondered if it was perhaps something to do with this...thanks

Yes, I've looked at that....I'm considering Elephant & an EQ so I if I bundle in Pristine Space maybe I can work a discount

Did you try 'Convo Boy'?

I just updated it and it is fully compatible with SONAR.

That's interesting. Is it on a complex project with at least 24 tracks with other VSTIs ? Just asking..

I've had problem with SIR in Sonar as well, dissapearing meters being the obvious one. However I am able to run SIR on tracks and busses. A project seems to work more reliably when SIR is used as a buss SEND effect.

This week I'm doing a project that has 54 stereo tracks, running with all sorts of plug'ins , including some mastering-grade ones ( ie:heavy cpu load+latency, not mentioning the quality :) )some VSTIs, and yeh, Sonar becomes sluggish, but my goodness it's carring a heavy load.
This project has one instance of SIR on the FX buss.
Lovely. :D

the problem IS sonar, yes it has to do with pdc and latency, but sonar's audio engine is not efficient enough to handle high amounts of pdc at low latency. it's a fact.
I have no idea where your getting those facts or numbers but I'm shaking my head here.My brother has Samplitude and can't run it at low latencey's(in his comparison test with Samps built in convo),I have an older version of Nuendo and the same thing, plus that's the the same others are reporting on Cubase.net and Nuendo's forums,in fact the coder of the plugin claims around 11ms at best and is working on a new version.I can't vouch for the other hosts but I can't see how the audio engine has anything to do with this whatsoever.I can run multiple versions of Pristine space(and any other plug in fact) in Sonar as low as 1.5ms without that much of a CPU hit,so where I'm sitting Sonar has absolutely nothing to do with this .So far your the only person Iv'e ever heard of using SIR at low latencey's with PDC,sans some kid making silly boastful claims or the host not even supporting PDC in the AUX bus. Also, between my brother and I we've both used Steinberg/Magix and Cakewalk products and can't seem to see what your on about concerning Sonar's inefficient audio engine.Unless we can prove to ourselves(we can't thus far) we'll just have to respectfully disagree. The fact is this,I can't run SIR under 3ms properly without problems in any host Iv'e tried and I'd be dishonest If I claimed otherwise unless I upgraded to Athlon 64,possibly.Don't forget as we all know, different IR's cause different CPU reactions(spikes)so there's some apples and oranges here.
