1. How to copy the audio/midi clips into the project folder automatically when I import the clips in a project?
2. I can't get any sound out of any VSTi unless I start to playback.. how can I play the VSTi even the playback is stopped? I think it is not my ASIO driver probelm because I can play those VSTi loaded in minihost.
P.S. I am using WinXP.
Thanks

Thanks COOKie, question 2 is solved!
So anyone can help me on the question 1?
Is the only way is the archive a project then uncompress it again into another folder?

I don't think you can do it automatically. Copying them into your project folder first and then importing them from the project folder instead of the original folder is as close as it gets to 'automatic', which is ultimately fairly manual.laiben wrote:1. Of course, when you export the project, all the materials will be consolidated, so if you're feeling like you have a mess on your hands, just export the entire project and then re-import it. That should sort it out.

On the Project page, there is an option at the bottom in the middle. It says "Import external files". I believe this should work for you. When you click, it will give you more options like whether or not you want the project to point to the new files or not. I hope this works!

Oh, and to see the option, you have to click on the edit you are using in each project. Then everything should be imported that is included in that edit.

I don't think that option actually moves files. It's more to ensure that they are referenced in the items-lst.koolkeys wrote:On the Project page, there is an option at the bottom in the middle. It is perfectly possible to have a clip in an edit that doesn't show on the project page. This button just ensures that all used media is listed.
I think Lunch is rght. The only way to do it is to manually copy, or to export the edit/project into a new folder.

Hmmm, I always thought that's what it did? I guess I never really used it now that I think of it.
So why does it give you the option to have the edit point to the old location? This is why I assumed it moved things. Hmmmm. I felt smart for a day or so. Thanks Valley.

Sorry, mate.koolkeys wrote:Hmmm, I always thought that's what it did?
So did I, until I tested it.

My understanding is this:
a clip, let's say an audio-file, can be used by more than one project at a time.
If a project lists the clip in the item-list of teh project page, that project references the clip directly, irrespective of where the clip is on your hard drive.
Why do I say "directly?" Well, if one of the projects did not actually list the material as an item, but *did* use it in the edit, rather than referencing the audio file on the hard-drive, it would reference it from an open project that, itself, referenced the file directly. <deep breath>
So in our case, project 1 points to the file. Project 2 points to project 1 pointing to the file.
The problem is, if project 1 is closed, project 2 can no longer find the material. That's what this button does. It ensures that all material used by the project is referred to directly.
The point behind this system, I suspect, is to discourage you from forgetting that material you are working on is also used elsewhere. Though I'm not really sure.
