Hey everyone - newbie here.

I was wondering if anyone could help me - I like that Tracktion includes a VST sampler, but wish it had an envelop editor or something so the release of the sample wasn't so abrupt. I know there is a "ignore release" selection, but I don't want it to play through the whole sample. I would like to be able to eidt the attack, loop and release of a sample, etc.

I see some shareware and commercial samplers, but was wondering if there was a fix or perhaps a better (free) sampler out there than the included one.
I suppose I could edit a volume fade out into each of the notes, but that would be a pain and not possible if playing live.

I have the Mac OS X version - so I would have to have a sampler VST OK for OS X. I have looked into Vsamp, http://www.vsamp.com/ which looks pretty good - but want to see if there are any free solutions first.

I bought this http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/det ... l?sku=PS13
and want to use it in Tracktion. I have loaded samples in the sampler before, but the releases are just too sudden and abruot.

Any ideas???

The only sampler I use is rgc:audio's sfz. Text-based programming unless you use Steven Holt's sfzed (do a forum search), but it's highly powerful.

Only streams sf2 from disc, though, not 'sfz format'.

Jerry, I see now what you were talking about. The release pretty much makes the sampler unusable for some instruments. And turning on the 'ignore release' function doesn't really help at all.

I'll surf around and see what I can come up with.

Paax is good for quickly mapping wavs.

Translator Free is a fine converter.

But that's PC only, and the possibility of a Mac version is rather slim...

I waiting for the day an outfit creates a simple sampler that reads AKAI program and keymap data with a simple filter and a few other sound shaping parameters.

You could always get the Computer Music DS-404 sampler. It's decent for the cost of a mag, and cross platform. I use a sample converter to change things to the right format.
