To be honest, I don't think anyone was making a joke.

It's only a joke if it's a hoax, and since it's not likely a hoax, it's not a joke. ;)

TBH ... i didnt start this thread to make any jokes ... platinumears had already been open in the contest thread about using the beta to make his entry and i cross-posted it here for a couple of (what seemed at the time entirely relevant) reasons ...

- to try and assure the groundhoggers that T2 does in fact exist in a (very) usable form and that even if it is delayed (which none of us know one way or the other yet) it IS on its way pretty soon

- (with my contest mod head on) to give any T users who wouldnt normally listen to the contest or even take any notice of it an impetus (out of curiosity to see whether T2 sounds any different to T if nothing else) to visit the contest thread and check out all the cool tuneage there this month

I'm not sure if that is true of not. I took part in beta testing for Live 4 and Reason 3.0. On both occasions I followed the non-disclosure stuff and kept my mouth shut.

The point is that the beta process for both of those was made public, and the purpose was to try out the software on as namy different "oridinary user" systems as possible, rather than just in-house and/or power users (like those involved here) who no doubt have powerful hardware to run with.

I believed there would be a public beta and applauded that as a very sensible thing, so that Mackie could identify how the software will run on a wide range of operating systems and hardware specs, and using as many VSTs as possible, and ReWiring in every piece of software out there!

Obviously that's not happening, and I know from a previous thread that the public beta was never going to happen.

If the folks involved in this beta test are basically doing a job for Mackie then of course that's fine, but I should have thought that in-house testing had already been done by this stage (as it was on show 2 months ago at NAMM).

As its not a public beat, the public forum shouldn't be buzzing with it. Because that IS a bad way to wind people up (although I seem to be alone here! )

OK, so that's cheered me up!

I actually removed it before your post saying that :D

I can see your point, really I can. With the wait people don't want to think others have a copy and are flaunting it. But at the same time, I don't think anyone meant to do that, i think it was just an innocent slipup that's snowballed a bit.

On a positive note, maybe the emergence of the beta testers is an indication that a release is imminent? And no'one's had a bad word to say about T2 yet, have you noticed? It's not like Jules made valley or Mod a beta tester, and they've gone "Is that it? What?" and rushed out to buy Sonar. Which must be a good sign, right?

OK, then. This thread is going no where. Let's stop talking about T2 beta testing until T2 is released, which shouldn't be much longer now. I'm going to try out my moderator skills and lock this thread.
