headquest, my condolences. That's a bummer. I know how much nicer your job would be using T2 vs Cubase. How many licenses did Mackie lose with this one? That seems like a decent amount of $$.
If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

Thanks braj.

Given my revised options, I think I'll be scheduling a lot of Reason 3.0 courses

Impossible to tell.

A few upfront of course (but peanuts)... but the REAL thing is the students who get locked into the software they know and love and buy their own copies now and in years to come.

I did a 2-day Reason 2.5 course last month for 7 teenagers, of whom 3 are getting/have now got their own copies at home. And people wonder why the Propellerheads are successful...

Porridge? I think I am more like Peaches and Cream Oat Meal. I am convinced that headquest is Apple Cinnamon....no...Maple and Brown Sugar. :) Instant of course.

although i felt that headquest had overreacted in another thread about things, he's certainly got a very valid point here and i can understand exactly why he's upset about things. that's too bad :( i'd love for my university to snap up Tracktion because i feel there's just no need for it to use cubase when software can be as easy to use as this. oh well, what can you do, eh? such is life.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Yes, I was in a very low mood. Sorry!

I wouldn't mind the vague release date if I had more concrete information about certain features. Mackie's website mentions 100 new features, but only details a few -- and the most important one, "enhanced midi editor," is particularly nonspecific.

Take, for instance, the question posed on these forums as to whether a drum grid will be included -- still unanswered. The most important thing to me is being able to edit midi drums. It's the foundation of everything I record -- if I can't sequence drums easily and quickly, then I can't even get started. I use DFHS for my drum sounds. I will not be using RMIV. A piano roll step sequencer is close, but not quite what I need -- DFHS has a LOT of drums in it, including separate notes for left- or right-hand hits, and I need to know exactly what I'm hitting.

If T2 doesn't include a drum grid, or some sort of useful drum editing tool(s), I'll have to purchase another program like Zygoat's Doggiebox to do the drum editing and import into Tracktion. But I don't know if I'm going to need that until someone answers the question of what kind of drum editing tools T2 will include. If I knew T2 wasn't going to be helpful in this regard, I could buy a drum sequencer right now and get started on some new projects right away, but if T2 does have the tools I need, then it's wasted money.

So I'm stuck waiting until T2's unspecified release date. Kind of annoying.

I wonder who's gonna be the first one complaining when T2 does finally come out. :hihi:

I could have sworn that we DID conclude that there is no drum grid in T2.

Hi there Lunch Money,

Yes, that was the conclusion in an earlier thread.

Judging by Ben's response I got the impression that it hadn't particularly been considered/much requested, but now that it has been raised I expect it will go onto Jules list of feature requests for the future.

Sage, I don't know doggiebox but it sounds interesting. I would have prefered easier drum editing too, and this was something I raised during the "striptease". One thing that did emerge is that the new line tool in the "MIDI Editor" can be used to add a whole row of hi-hats, for example, like the pencil tool in Live 4 of the paint-brush in Acid or FLS. This will certainly help speed things up a bit for those who go with T2.

Yours,
Maple & Brown

Not really... the thread contains lots of speculation with no definitive answers.

Even if there's not a dedicated drum *grid* per se, it would be good to know how T2's enhanced midi editing facilitates the creation of drum tracks. Step editing (not the same as step recording) isn't explicitly mentioned, for instance, or customized lanes in the piano roll (to display only the notes pertaining to the drum kit, for example).

Would be nice to hear from Beno on this one.
