Jens, are you saying that Magix Music Studio 2005 midi studio doesn't allow insert effects?

I've been thinking of getting this.

Yup - that's what I was saying - sorry :-(

I guess that deal had to be too good to be true.

The Audio Studio does look good though.

the deLuxe version of audio studio even comes with Samplitude's elastic audio - still a deal too good to be true... :-D

(you can still set up the audio-studio as your wave-editor in Tracktion)

Oh and about Robota (and the 303 emulation) - sometimes I make a quick beat there and then export it as .wav - that's dead easy and the sound is fantastic :-D

So, is that the audio studio part of music studio 2005 deluxe?

I demoed the e-version of the seperate audio studio and was favorably impressed.

Post

yes, the music studio consists mainly of those two independent apps - Midi Studio and Audio Studio 8) (both can be synced b.t.w.)

How is the Midi Studio? Is the notation editor functional? (based on Logic, yeah?) Is it still being updated by Magix, or will they just keep the older engine?

I thought about picking up Magix Music Studio a while back. Their lack of a downloadable demo lost them a sale. :?

the notation is functional but regarding updates it's mainly about the included plugins (a new synth here a new drum-module there etc.)

Ah, cool. Thanks.

If you are just looking to use some rex files or acidized wav, try AMG ONE/Solo (check the instrument links in the upper right corner). It's £30.

You need to get your files rexed or acidized with another app though.

Actually, it would be kinda sweet if Mackie made a deal with Muon for a Tracktion specific sampler. Their Tachyon technology looks promising, and they (Muon) have made similar deals with other companies.

This way, Mackie could release samplesets in addition to software updates. It's a nice way to keep customers around when there are no new feature updates in the near future.

Are you going to use mostly rhythmic material (ie. beats!) or do you plan to timestretch notes and so forth (ie. orchestral swells, vocal parts) as well?

Greg
Beats (although beatslicing scares the bejeesus out of me so please don;t suggest that :D ) but also other samples too (horns etc) - well, that was the idea.
