Problem with audio input in T1

I apologize if this has been covered, but searching for "audio" or "first beat" gives a few too many hits to browse through.
Two things I need your help with, people:
I'm on Tracktion 1.6, I have an Audigy2 sound card and all my audio inputs (mic, guitar, etc) go through a hardware preamp and mixer into the LINE IN on the Audigy.
1. When I hook up an audio input (Mix L+R) to a track, I hear BOTH the line in signal directly and the track in Tracktion. I mean, even if I mute the audio track, I still hear it, and it's not going through the effects I might have set up for it. It seems like it's bypassing Tracktion altogether. To get rid of the direct signal, I have to go to settings and disable and re-enable the audio device. After that, it works as expected (I now only hear the audio going through Tracktion). Is there something I can do to avoid having to go through this silly exercise?
2. I know this has been mentioned earlier, but I still have to ask. Is there any way I can hear the first beat of the first bar when rewired to Reason?
Cheers, T

1. Ditch the Audigy! (or try the 3rd party drivers available)
2. Wait for T2

Yeah - I got some unexpected bills that puts off all my planned purchases - Reason 3, Tracktion 2, new soundcard, monitors, keyboard and guitar were all on my list for this spring, but now they're probably not on my list until next spring.platinumears wrote:1. So I'm looking for solutions that cost somewhere between zero and nothing. I can live with starting all songs on bar two, but that audio thing - jeez.

What do you recommend I use?

I used the KX drivers with my SB Live (I still have a MIDI workstation at work using them)
Someone else with an Audigy might know better..
