I just got my new EQ magazine that came out today, and the first page you see when you open it up is a giant two page ad for T2!!! And I'm not talking about a teaser. I'm talking about advertising over $500 of plugins, with PICTURES of a bunch of them. Some of them are looking impressive, and aren't listed on the Mackie web site.

Also, the best thing, is that there are full screenshots of T2 in action! And they actually show the new MIDI editor! It looks absolutely fantastic! There's also a screenshot of the new metering setup, and that also looks fantastic!

Go get one. It's worth the price of the magazine to see the screenshots! Really, I couldn't believe it. Finally, we can see what some of the new features look like!

:( i'm starting to get a bit down about the holding-back-of-info at the moment. if it comes out then i'll no doubt buy it, but i'd really like to know just a little in advance if i'm actually going to be able to afford it :( i don't know how much money i'll have towards the end of this month and i'd really like to not get excited and stay in this odd state of suspense about something whilst i have such a massive workload for uni these next two weeks. it's all getting somewhat on top of me :(
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I wish I did. Plus, I'm at school right now. I don't even have a digital camera outside of my phone, or I would take a pic and put it up. If nobody else is able to get this, maybe I can come up with something tonight. I think everyone will want to see this. Not that it makes your jaw drop, but it's awesome to see some of the features that have been mysterious until now.

Maybe a stop by a local Kinkos would be what I need to do. Now, I just have to find one here in downtown Nashville.

Two questions:

1. You say it shows a lot of plugins, some of which aren't on Mackie's site. Is there a note anywhere on the ad to the effect of "Bundled plugins subject to change without notice" or somesuch? I'm curious to know if they've even finalized that list.

2. Is the midi editor a piano roll view? What does it entail?

We don't get EQ here in the UK so I can't check this out.

But it seems odd that Mackie would be releasing new information through a magazine advert that is not available on their website.

The release of info has been bungled, no doubt about it. Lots of Tracktions strongest advocates are becoming wound up. Let's hope Mackie learn something from all this and do things right the next time around :)

It's good to think they will be putting some marketing muscle behind T2. However, I would think most EQ readers already own a sequencer, so this is about raising Tracktion's profile and perhaps attracting deserters from other software.

I hope they also advertise in guitar, drum, keyboard magazines, etc. Also of course in the educational market, where the key to the future succes of Tracktion is really to be found, and where newbies become the long term users of the future

I don't know much about publishing, and even less about Mackie's sales/advertising departments, but I suspect magazines have pretty long lead in times for adverts. Certainly most times I've had to deal with placing adverts, the ad copy was required quite some time in advance.

If so, you may simply be looking at an ad that was placed a few weeks back based on projections of where things would be.

:?

If they are trying to get Tracktion into Guitar Center and the like, I'm sure they will.

I think this silent marketing strategy is working beautifully

Think about it.
Now matter how much you claim you are getting angered about this no information tactic, the second it becomes available you will buy it. The tension has built up in you 'till the only way to subvert that tension is to buy the product immediately.

I think their intention is to build up the mystery and suspense, and get people talking and thinking about it.

Even if it isn't their true intent, it will still work in their favor.

well i did think along those lines at first, but to be perfectly honest i simply don't know if i'll be able to afford it. i don't mind holding off on some other purchases that are otherwise kinda important if it means that i can get T2 on launch day, but i'd like to know. the way things are going now it looks like my money is going to be more useful to me on other things and i'd really like to be able to plan/budget for T2.

that's just not possible now, so i feel i probably won't be able to get it when it comes out. if we knew the upgrade prices etc. then it'd be easier to balance things. i'm not really happy about it any more, tbh. not going to argue about it, saying it's wrong or anything. the current T2 situation is just not making me happy, and my excitement has turned to sadness/stress, whether that's pathetic or not.

Yeah, you're right there. Whenever my music publications have been advertised the lead time was 2 - 3 weeks.
