How do I record softsynth in Traction w/o recording midi?

yeah it's a pain that i sometimes encounter;

say i am working in T, and then i load an experimental ensemble in a vst instance of reaktor. tinkering away, i get a random groove going; it just doesn't work to render this, because it's generative and not dependant on input midi data. if i try to render it it will just be different (and yes of course there's a chance it could be better, but there's also a chance that a single quality moment could be lost forever).

there are ways around it but it's often quite a niggle. i just make sure that i load reaktor standalone or load it within eXT standalone because they both have output recorders built in.

not really saying anything by posting here, just that i understand why it can be useful to have such features, and why it can be a bit of a pain on such rare occasions.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

might be a cool 2.x (3 ??? ) FR ... have an 'internal' audio input that shows up on the left that you can choose as a destination for another tracks audio output ...

Can't you just route a midi track's output to an audio track's input, and record audio in realtime like it was an external input? Do you need another plug for this? I do this all the time in Live.
That's what I was saying - maybe it depends on the soundcard but its easy on my system to do that in realtime.

No, it's not the soundcard. Just the way some sequencers are laid out. I was bummed I couldn't do it in Logic also, at least not easily.

Well it works great in Tracktion - I just have a midi track with a softsynth and route the audio from the mixer straight back into the track below. I have virtually no latency on my system so it's realtime. I'm playing the synth and recording the audio at the same time as I'm laying down the midi track - so I get the best of both worlds :)

and of the routing system I have in Scope (for any users)

You're right that Tracktion makes it easier than most hosts to do this sort of thing.

But you have to use another app to do this? That's actually may not be easier than in Logic, where I could do it in the environment maybe as easily. And I think I could use Jack which would definitely be easier (if it works). Live4 definitely is 100% better for this.

No - that's just the routing setup on my soundcard in the second screenshot.

Not really: he just has more options with his soundcard drivers than you or me.. :(

I can still route audio back into Tracktion with my Delta 66 though. :)

OK, sorry. Got a cheap POS Audigy 2ZX myself.

Anyway, it would be nice to have the option from within T, I imagine latency would be less. Doesn't seem existent in Live.

And that's just my basic (16bit) default setup so it's a more complicated setup than I need to use just to route the mixer audio back into Tracktion. It's also set up to route whichever Scope synths I want + live inputs from my Korg and a Mike or second live input if I want it - and I can also use the mixer in to route back external effects or Scope's own effects. But I'm sure similar things could be done with many decent soundcards.
