I am not getting any audio during the preroll period of the punch... wither with a clik precount or a punch in with a few bars playback before the in marker... help!

Are you using "replace existing clips" as your record mode? If so then I think I am understanding you correctly and I'm pretty sure this is the way it works in T1 (I'm going from memory and I don't have T1 in front of me right now). This operation has been changed for T2 to me more standard: playback of the existing track before and after the punch and no playback during the punch region.

yes, I am using replace existing clips... but this is strange. If i do not choose replace exsisting clips, ill get a dual playbak. Most often, punches happen over an already existing layer of audio.
So to get it correct ill have to first edit the audio track, remove the section I plan to punch in, and then proceed to punch. And if i am taking multiple punches, im screwed.
I dont mean to be arrogant, but some things in traction i cant get my head around.

Unfortunately Punch-in never worked in T1 as it should.
T2 suppose to correct this.
My work around is to remove the "unwanted" section and then just record the "replacement" section on a separate track.
Every take I do in a new track until I am happy with results.
Then I just "put together" all the pieces.
I call it "the quzzai manual punch-in" workaround.

I use the same method as Andrew...once I learned the keyboard shortcuts and learned about "shift drag" to move the clip without losing it's position, timewise. At this point, I find that to be as quick and efficient as any "punch-in" I've used in any DAW. Sometimes we just have to open up to new ways of doing things...

ok.. so I decide to manually ounch in. The problem bieng that hitting 'R' while in playmode results in the audio stuttering for a very short period. Say if you have the clik on, the clik will suddenly hit a quick double note. Code ? Or my system. Again, i can punch on the fly with other hosts withought any issue.

No Manual Punch in Tracktion at this point. Remember, it's only a 1.x release so it won't have everything that every other host has (and it wasn't designed to). As I said, auto punch will work as you want it to in T2.

manual punch meaning punchin in on the fly... i have the audio rolling, input assigned to track. I hit 'R' wheen i want to punch, it works. But its not smooth. There is a small stutter. AS long as it works fine tin T2, im on.Beno wrote:No Manual Punch in Tracktion at this point. Manual punch as you described has NOT been changed for T2.
